The PzKpfwg. V Panther tank was a German medium tank used in World War II on both the Eastern and Western Fronts. It was designed to counter the Soviet T-34 and replace the Panzer III and IV, but had some design flaws. Despite these issues, it remained effective in open country and had a higher power-to-weight ratio than other tanks of its time.
