The US Navy's Elco 80' Motor Patrol Torpedo Boat Late Type is an updated version of the PT-103 design, featuring enhanced firepower. The boat maintains the same length of 80ft (24.2M), a beam of 20ft 8in. (7M), and a displacement of 56 tons. The boat's 3 sets of 1,350 horsepower Packard 4M-2500 V12 gasoline engines allow for a maximum speed of 43 knots. The addition of more guns was in response to the increased presence of Japanese armed landing craft and transport in the Pacific islands. The previous torpedo launch tubes have been replaced with lighter roll-off type Mk 13 torpedoes. Additional firepower includes a 20mm Mk4 cannon, a 37mm T9 automatic cannon, a 40mm Bofers, a Mk50 5in. 8 tube rocket launcher, and whatever weapons the crew can find.
