The main armored personnel carrier used by the German Wehrmacht in World War II was the half-track Sd.Kfz.251, designed by the company "Hanomag". It was primarily used to transport motorized infantry (Sd.Kfz.251/1). This versatile vehicle was in extensive service throughout the war and saw action in all theaters. Production of the modified Sd.Kfz.251 Ausf.A began in 1939 and ended in 1940, resulting in a total of 15252 vehicles. Some of these carriers were also utilized as Sd.Kfz.251/6 command vehicles for the High Command of the Wehrmacht.
