 The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a versatile, American jet fighter and bomber designed for the United States Navy by McDonnell Aircraft. It entered service in 1961 with the Navy, and later with the United States Air Force and Marine Corps. The Phantom saw action in the Vietnam War and set multiple world records for performance. It was eventually replaced by more modern aircraft but remained in service with the U.S. until 1996. The Phantom was also used by 11 other nations, including Israel and Iran in various conflicts. It is still in active service with several air forces around the world.
