The Junkers Ju 87 Stuka was known as the "terror bomber" during the Second World War. Its distinctive appearance, fierce dive and ability to hit specific targets made it a symbol of fear during the early Blitzkrieg campaigns. Although its reputation suffered during the Battle of Britain, where unaccompanied Stukas were easily taken down by Spitfires and Hurricanes, it proved to be a valuable asset in various other roles and theaters until the end of the war, including troop support in North Africa, night bombing in Italy, and taking out tanks on the Eastern Front.
