In 1938, Krupp announced that they had begun the development of their 105 mm K L/52 Selbstfahrlafette, which was famously known as the "Dicker Max". This tank was armed with a 105mm K 18 L/52 gun, featuring a double-deflector muzzle brake that allowed it to penetrate 111 mm of armor at a vertical angle of 30 degrees to a range of 2000 meters. Boasting light armor and an open superstructure, this tank hunter was powered by a 12-cylinder gasoline engine, enabling it to reach a top speed of 40km/h.
